Old Farmer’s Almanac 2016
In an 1830
edition of The American Almanac, one notes “…the Almanacs most similar to some
of those extensively circulated amongst our intelligent fellow-countrymen, are
produced in Persia…”
According to
Typographical Journal published in 1904, “it is thought that the word almanac
was first used by Roger Bacon, who adapted from the Persian star tables of the
eleventh century a calendar for the use of the English and termed it an
almanack.”

Dunhuang dating from AD 877. Babylonian, Persian and Indian influences can be
seen including the animal zodiac”… for educational purposes only]
